At that point my job was to talk with the guests and answer any questions they might have. In other words, provide entertainment. As a group of women gathered around me, I was surprised to hear a voice from behind me say, "I love your dress; why don't you wear it to work tomorrow?" I whirled around and looked straight into the eyes of Kathy, the receptionist at the office!
I thought I could die. I didn't know what to say... but she was smiling... For years we had been teasing and playing jokes on one another. There was no doubt in my mind she would exploit this to the fullest extent. I never saw her in the audience and wondered how I had missed her. If I had seen her I could have called this off in time, but now I was a sitting duck. She explained she had come in late, apparently while I was changing.
It was as if we were the only two people in the entire room. I simply disregarded everyone else and addressed my foremost concern. "I hope you will not mention this at the office?" I knew the answer before I began.
She smiled ear to ear and said, "Dream on."
