"The first thing you've got to do," Fern announced when he returned to the room, "is to get your mind in gear."
"How do I do that?" Mark didn't understand.
"Well, you're no longer going to be called... whatever you're called. It's got to be Fern from now on," Fern explained. "It may not be the name you'd choose, but it gives you a starting point."
"I guess I see what you mean," Mark said thoughtfully. "This isn't me, it's Fawn. Fawn's a different person, with a different personality from mine."
"That's it!" Fern congratulated him. "Get the mindset right, and you can create something. If you fight against it, you'll not be able to cope."
"Okay, where do I start?" Fawn's voice was in a higher register than Mark's had been. It was softer and more breathy.
"That sounds like a good start," Fern laughed. " I guess you get dressed."
"Let's go then." Fawn's boice brimmed with enthusiasm.
