On a rare day off, Joanie and I spent a dreamy day shopping for new clothes, new jewelry and fresh makeup. She taught me a lot about shading my eyes for different effects glamorous or demure, depending on how, I, Christine, wanted to appear. It was a new idea that I took to hungrily. To think that I could manipulate other people with my femininity was a thrilling idea and, with Joanie's encouragement, I was shameless for a little while.

Once I went out without a bra, encouraged my Joanie, but the ogling became too severe and every man in our entourage seemed to want to  hit on me. All Donna did was laugh while Joanie hugged me and called me 'bad'. So we shopped for a new bra; it was a thrilling experience to be in a shop with so many women, to be fitted properly b y an attractive brunette, to be accepted and cosseted.
